June 24, 2011
This summer has not been a great one so far, hell; it hasn’t even been “good”. Riding home last night, it was warm, but there was a feel in the air that made me realize this is the type of day we usually get in late March or April, not the end of June. And, riding home tonight, I just barely outran the thunderstorm that turned our sky black and dumped buckets of rain on us! Lately, the Northwest has been experiencing those warm, sunny summer days one at a time…with two or three (or more) cloudy, gloomy, rainy days in between. So, instead of waiting for summer to come, I’m going looking for it.

Mike and I are heading out on the road for 4 ½ to 6 weeks, leaving on July 5.
Our plan is to ride along the Oregon/Northern California coasts, head inland toward Sacramento, then join US Highway 50 and go across the country; then taking the “long way” home. Our route includes Dodge City, Kansas City (BBQ---yum!!); Washington DC; Ocean City, Maryland; the Blue Ridge Parkway; Tail of the Dragon; the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland; Niagara Falls; Toronto (just ‘cuz we will be close); the Mackinac Bridge; Glacier National Park and more--totaling 26 states, one province, lots of small towns and Americana in between, and close to (if not over) 10,000 miles.
I will be posting updates and pictures from the road when possible, so keep checking in.
See you on the road!
See you on the road!
