Hi there! We are in Olney, IL tonight...picked up my scoot yesterday from Rawhide Harley- Davidson in Olathe, KS (outside Kansas City), and hit the road about 230pm. Mike had broken a fuel line just outside Pueblo, CO that we were able to repair temporarily until we could get to Olathe and have it replaced. Not 30 minutes after picking up his scoot, I broke a throttle cable on our way to the hotel. The guys at Rawhide (Don the service writer and Andrew the tech) were great and did everything they could to get me rolling again! Since we were riding in the highest heat of the day, we only rode about 110 miles or so, ended up in Sedalia, MO. Found a great little motel (a 50's - style motor court that I like), with a great room for $40 -- AC, cable, comfy beds, etc. Had dinner at a place called Kehde's BBQ...looks like it was once a burger joint drive in (A&W?) but they added a dining car from a train onto it...very cool. We had an excellent dinner there, reasonably priced and lots of grub! (Check it out if you ever find yourself in Sedalia) We wanted to hit the road today early, mainly beacause of the dangerous heat. At 630am, the TV showed the temp in town was 75 with 94% humidity! Dried off the bikes and had a leisurely ride down toward St Louis, then across the Mississippi River into Illinois, and ended up here.
Our plan is to head off to Hillsboro, OH, passing through Indiana and skirting just south of Cincinnati tomorrow. Enjoy these pics from the road!
